This is a Digital Image Competition only, no Prints will be accepted.
The competition for the IRIS MILLIKAN TROPHY shall be held annually for the most outstanding creative image. It is awarded to the best Electronic Digital Image of a Creative or Experimental nature.
The image submitted would have been manipulated by post processing software or other means and therefore will not be a true representation of the original image.
The competition is the highlight both the skills of the member in image manipulation as well as the artistic quality of the final image.
The manipulation must be undertaken by the author.
Rules
Images previously submitted in this competition are not eligible again ie, each print/digital image may only be submitted to this competition once, regardless of how it scores and regardless of whether it has or has not been entered in the monthly competitions.
The competition shall be open to all financial members.
Entries shall not count toward aggregate points or awards.
Entries are limited to a maximum of six (6) images per member. Although monochrome and colour digital images may be entered, there are no separate sections.
Images are not allowed to be created in whole or in part by generative software (frequently referred to as Artificial Intelligence or simply AI).
All elements of an image must originate as a photograph taken by the entrant using a camera. Images may not incorporate identifiable elements produced by anyone else (for example: clip art, replacement skies or stock images).
By virtue of submitting an image, the entrant certifies the work as their own and the original RAW/JPEG image may be requested by the Club for validation.
Judging
The committee shall appoint a competent person or persons to act as judge and critique.
Each entry will be awarded a score of 1 to 10. The highest scoring image across all three categories will be declared the winner. In the event of a tied score, the tied images will be presented to the judge again and the winner will be at the judge’s discretion.
Definition
The definition of “creative” or “altered reality” covers photographs that display a novel effect because of an unusual combination of objects and/or viewpoint. They are images that have been modified during or after exposure. The image must have a photographic base with the original work being exposed by the entrant.
