Image and Print Preparation
Entry to all competitions is performed electronically.
Digitally captured images may be entered as a print or EDI and details regarding entry requirements are described below.
All competition entries must be made through the online competition form – see Submitting Entries.
Prints
It is required that you lodge an EDI with all your print entries.
This digital version is to be no larger than 3840 pixels on the horizontal side and 2160 pixels on the vertical side. The file should be less than 8Mb in size and in JPEG. format. Colour space is sRGB IEC6 1966-2.1.
Deadline for entries is the Friday (11:59 pm) prior to competition.
Prints may be printed at home or commercially processed. Do not resize your image for printing purposes. The image needs to be as large as possible to maintain quality. Only EDI’s uploaded on the web page need to be resized as specified above.
Please note the following:
A competitor’s name on prints or digital image shall not be visible when such prints or images are viewed or projected in the normal manner.
All images must have been taken by the submitting author.
All images must start as a dye-coupled negative, silver halide negative, colour reversal film or digital capture. This may be manipulated later in the printing stage or by using a computer.
Prints should be mounted. Attaching the image to the mat is described in a number of YouTube videos.
Framed prints will not be accepted.
If you are using Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop you can find numerous tutorials on YouTube on how to resize images.
The back of each print must be clearly marked with the following:
Image Title. This should be short and concise and not exceed 25 characters including spaces.
Name of entrant.
Grade (A or B grade)
Category eg Monochrome Open, Colour Set etc
An arrow indicating the top of the image.
The name of the print and digital capture should be identical.
The title must not exceed 25 characters including spaces.
Prints may be monochrome or colour depending on the competition category.
Monochrome Prints: Includes black & white prints, or prints toned in one colour.
Colour Prints: Includes prints in total colour, or partially toned.
Please present your prints to the registration desk on competition night.
Prints should have the following physical dimensions:
Minimum print size is (6.5” x 4.5”) 16.5cm x 11.5cm or 29.25 square inches in area (190 square centimetres).
Maximum presentation size (including mount) is (20” x 16”) 50.8cm x 40.6cm or 320 square inches (2,062 square centimetres).
